Onelio Marrero was born in Cuba in 1958 and emigrated to the U. S. A. during his early childhood. His family settled in Union City, New Jersey where he lived until he married his wife Lisette. He studied painting, drawing, sculpture and print making at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1980. He has exhibited his work in one-man shows and group shows throughout the metropolitan area. His work has hung in The Ariel Gallery in N.Y.C., The National Arts Club in N.Y.C., The City Without Walls Gallery in Newark, N.J., The Blackwell Street Center for the Arts Gallery in Dover, N.J. and in The Atrium Gallery in Morristown, N.J. Mr. Marrero divides his time between his family, his art and teaching. He currently lives with his wife and daughters in New Jersey.
